On Tuesday, December 13th from 1 to 9 p.m. Great Neck Park District residents will vote for Commissioner. Current Commissioner Frank Cilluffo is running uncontested at this time. Mr. Cilluffo was the commissioner this summer who refused to pull a comedian performing at Steppingstone Park who made stereotypical jokes about Jews, Persians and Asians. A resident begged Frank Cilluffo and Superintendent Jason Marra to remove the comedian from the stage but they refused. In a period where hate on the rise in the USA, this conduct is unacceptable. We must prevent those who condone hate to hold office. Write in your own candidate when you vote this Tuesday. Color in the oval and write in your candidate of choice. We deserve better. We must not settle for leaders that condone stereotypical jokes made about their constituents.
RENTER BEWARE: ILLEGAL MARIJUANA USE BY TENANTS IN GREAT NECK PLAZA BUILDINGS
In residential buildings throughout Great Neck Plaza, such as 28 Gilchrest Road, the illegal use of marijuana presents a serious problem with absolutely no oversight or enforcement by the Mayor’s office or Management of the buildings involved. The smoke from this drug permeates into the hallways and through the many vents of the building and individual apartments presenting a hazard to all tenants. Our children are most vulnerable.
It is imperative that our local government leaders get involved in “quality of life” matters, especially when it affects the health of their constituents. It has been brought to our attention that the the Mayor’s office and Building Management choose to ignore and dismiss complaints regarding this important matter.
Stay safe. Stay well.

BINGO WHOLESALE
What a FIND! BINGO WHOLESALE located at 1245 61st Street in Brooklyn is a well organized location with FREE parking. The merchandising is excellent and you do not have to buy in bulk. This “one stop kosher shopping” with free parking is priceless.
One may purchase fruit, dairy, meats, breads, spices, candy, pasta, home goods, gifts, frozen vegetables and fruits, religious items, etc.
How do I know that this is a jewel? I visited BINGO WHOLESALE and highly recommend a visit. The membership is free and customer service is excellent.
PARIS COMES TO GREAT NECK
Boulangerie Marie Blanchere is located at 550 Middle Neck Road Road.
The pastries are excellent, the baguettes are delicious, the coffee is fresh and very good.
With its first location in the USA right here in Great Neck, I had the pleasure of tasting a few of the beautifully baked goods offered, including the almond and plain croissants, hamburger buns and baguettes. Looking forward to going back for more. The chocolate cake, raspberry and fruit pies, sandwiches and pizza look fresh and worth the calories. One can order a cappuccino, and ice coffee is also available.
The staff is very nice and I am most impressed guests on the long lines have been most patient.
The trip to Boulangerie Marie is an adventure. Bon Voyage et Bon Appetit!
MEDICARE SCAM
This posting is a warning for anyone enrolled in Medicare. I received a phone call last week from someone claiming to be from “Medicare Pain Management Dept.” This is a scam to get you to give them your Medicare ID so they can submit fraudulent claims for medical devices. Medicare will never call you directly to ask for your ID or for any reason. If you do receive a call like this or any call asking if you have pain, HANG UP IMMEDIATELY! Do not engage in conversation. I know these phone calls are annoying and frightening to some, but being informed ahead of time will hopefully prevent you from becoming a victim of these scams.
BED BUGS IN GREAT NECK BUILDINGS
How do potential tenants and buyers in Great Neck learn of bed bugs in buildings? I believe that the Building Department of each village should require ALL buildings to report this matter to the respective Building Department. Bed bugs are a serious issue. In at least one building, it has occurred five times over 2 years.
Do you know of any instances of bed bugs in your building?
PARKWAY DINER
I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious breakfast at the Parkway Diner in Douglaston (44-25 Douglaston Parkway).
The restaurant and the rest rooms (wheelchair access) are very clean. The decor is warm and cozy. Their menu is extensive, offering burgers, salads, quesadillas, wraps, steaks, breakfast, brunch, etc.
The staff is polite, professional and service is excellent. I ordered the eggs over easy, The food came out within a reasonable time and was hot. The dish was delicious and the potatoes were perfect. The rye bread was well toasted, not burnt. Refills, on the very good coffee, kept coming.
I highly recommend this jewel in Douglaston. Let us know what you think.
Bon appetit!
